§ 31-135. Permit—Application; fee; issuance; term; form; display.

  • (a)

    Any person owning or leasing real estate which abuts the streets described in sections 31-129 through 31-133 is eligible to apply for a permit which allows the person to park a vehicle in the location described in those sections during the times and days indicated. Only two permits shall be issued for any one dwelling unit. "Dwelling unit" and related terms shall be as defined in the Manhattan City Zoning Ordinance. For the purposes of this division, the following shall be considered a single dwelling unit, and only the owner thereof may apply for a permit: lodging/boarding house, group home, dormitory, and fraternity/sorority.

    (b)

    Applications for permits shall be submitted to the city clerk's office on a form provided by the city clerk and shall be accompanied by a fee of $5.00 per permit and proof of ownership or lease agreement of real estate within the above described area. The fee shall not be prorated.

    (c)

    Each permit shall be issued for a specific vehicle. Each permit shall expire on December 31 of the year for which it is issued, but it shall expire earlier than December 31 when the user of the applicable vehicle no longer resides at, or owns, the property for which the permit is issued. All permits which have been issued and taken effect prior to January 1, 2014, shall expire on December 31, 2013.

    (d)

    The permit shall be in a form designed by the city clerk and shall be prominently displayed on the vehicle as required by the city clerk.
