§ 9-21. Interments.

  • (a)

    All interments within the city-owned cemeteries shall be under the direction of the cemetery sexton or his/her assistant. No person shall bury or inter any remains in the cemetery without such direction and permission. No person shall open a grave space in a city cemetery except with the direction and permission of the cemetery sexton.

    (b)

    Orders from funeral directors related to an interment shall be construed as the orders from grave space(s) owners they are serving.

    (c)

    In the event it is discovered that remains have been interred in an incorrect location, the city shall have the right to remove and reinter such remains to the correct location.
