§ 6-39. Responsibilities of veterinarians.

  • (a)

    Process application forms for licenses on a voluntary basis. Local veterinarians may, but are not required to, distribute application forms for licenses to applicants and receive and process such forms. If a veterinarian elects to receive and process applications forms for licenses, the veterinarian may charge up to a $5.00 administrative fee in addition to the license fee, retain the administrative fee, and remit the license fee to the city on or before the tenth of each month for all application forms for licenses received and processed during the preceding one-month period.

    (b)

    The city clerk shall provide, upon request, the application form for license hereunder. In addition, the city clerk shall provide veterinarians within the city limits and immediate vicinity, as well as upon request, with a supply of such application forms as well as self-addressed, stamped envelopes to be used to return the application to the appropriate city office. If the city receives an application for a license hereunder that shows on its face that it was distributed to the applicant by a local veterinarian, the city shall reimburse said veterinarian the sum of $1.00 for compensation for such assistance.
