§ 13-52. Permit; fire and other code inspections.

  • (a)

    It shall be unlawful to sell at retail, to offer to sell at retail, to deliver or to give away to any individuals, any fireworks, without a valid permit issued by the city.

    (b)

    The owner of the fireworks operation shall submit an application for a permit on the form provided by the city, and shall provide a copy of the State of Kansas Distributors License indicating from whom the fireworks will be purchased. The application shall be complete, and shall be accompanied by a nonrefundable $250.00 application fee. The permit application must be received on or before June 25 of any year for which the permit is sought, and the permit may only allow such activities during the period of July 1 to July 4. The city shall deny any permit application submitted after June 25 of any year for which the permit is sought. The city shall not issue a permit until the city has inspected the premises and determined compliance with the most recent adopted version of the fire code, other applicable codes, and the zoning regulations. No permit shall be issued for premises that do not comply with such codes and regulations.

    (c)

    If a permit is issued, the permit holder shall prominently and conspicuously display such permit upon the premises. The permit holder shall also display a list of safety rules provided by the city.
