§ 8-232. Exceptions.

  • (a)

    The permit provisions of this division shall not apply to the moving of any small one-story buildings, such as garages, accessory buildings and construction offices when such buildings do not exceed 200 square feet of floor area provided, that such building is loaded upon a pneumatic-tired truck or a truck and not more than one two-wheeled, pneumatic-tired trailer; provided further, that the combined height of building and truck or trailer is not greater than 16 feet from the surface of the highway, road, street or alley.

    (b)

    Every person shall when moving any such building or structure, use the highest degree of care that no damage results to any person or property. In case damage to person or property results from such moving, the city shall in no case be held liable for such damage. A permit shall be required for the moving of any structure over, along or upon any street or other public grounds of the city under which it is necessary to use heavy house moving timbers, house moving trucks or other regular building moving equipment.
