§ 8-80. License required for electrical contractors, term.

  • It shall be unlawful for any person to engage in the business in the city as an electrical contractor without a license to do so, issued by the building official upon payment of a biennial license fee of $200.00. All such licenses shall be valid for two years and expire on December 31st of odd-numbered years. Licenses shall be required of master electricians engaged in business as electrical contractors and shall likewise be required of all persons engaged in business as electrical contractors and having in their full time employ qualified master electricians; provided, that it is the intent and purpose of this section to require one license fee only for each person engaged in business as an electrical contractor as an individual unit; provided further, that licenses shall be issued only to qualified master electricians or to persons who have in their full time employ qualified master electricians. For the purpose of this section, full time is 40 hours or more per week.
