§ 8-49. Additional rules for new electric wiring and connections.

  • In addition to the minimum standards set forth in the National Electrical Code as adopted, new electric wiring and connections in the city shall be as follows:

    (1)

    All services to one-family and two-family dwellings shall be installed as per the National Electrical Code with three conductors, minimum capacity to be 100 amperes per unit.

    (2)

    All increases to present service conductors to one-family and two-family dwellings shall not be smaller than three 100-ampere conductors, per unit, to meter location.

    (3)

    All new meter installations to one-family and two-family dwellings shall be installed in a weatherproof type outdoor metal box or meter fittings approved by the utility company for such purposes, located on the outside of the building, location to be designated by the public utility furnishing the service.

    (4)

    For all new electric light and power services and all changes or relocation of electric light and power services, a sketch of proposed new work must be submitted to the building official and must have his approval before work is started.
