§ 2-230. Terms.

  • (a)

    Each member of the Douglass Center Board shall serve for a period of three years. Except initially: three for one year, three for two years, and three for three years. If a petition is submitted to the governing body, signed by 20 percent or more of those qualified and registered to vote and who further reside in the specified geographical area as set forth in section 2-228, then and in that event, the governing body may authorize an election to elect the five members of the board to come from the specified geographical area. The rules and regulations for conducting the election shall be determined by the governing body. The Douglass Center Board shall be responsible for the conduct of the election pursuant to the rules and regulations as promulgated by the governing body.

    (b)

    The members of the board, while appointed for a term for the convenience of the city, shall serve in that term at the pleasure of the governing body.
