§ 1-2. Miscellaneous ordinances not affected by Code.

  • Nothing in this Code or the ordinance adopting this Code shall be deemed to affect the validity of any of the following when not inconsistent with this Code:

    (1)

    Charter ordinances;

    (2)

    Ordinances pertaining to the acquisition of property or interests in property by gift, purchase, devise, bequest, appropriation or condemnation;

    (3)

    Ordinances opening, dedicating, widening, vacating or narrowing streets, avenues, alleys and boulevards;

    (4)

    Ordinances establishing and changing grades of streets, avenues, alleys and boulevards;

    (5)

    Ordinances naming or changing the names of streets, avenues and boulevards;

    (6)

    Ordinances authorizing or directing public improvements to be made;

    (7)

    Ordinances creating districts for public improvements of whatsoever kind or nature;

    (8)

    Ordinances levying general taxes;

    (9)

    Ordinances levying special assessments or taxes;

    (10)

    Ordinances granting any rights, privileges, easements or franchises therein mentioned to any person;

    (11)

    Ordinances authorizing the issuance of bonds and other instruments of indebtedness by the city;

    (12)

    Ordinances authorizing contracts;

    (13)

    Ordinances establishing the limits of the city or pertaining to annexation or exclusion of territory;

    (14)

    Ordinances pertaining to zoning;

    (15)

    Ordinances pertaining to local traffic and parking regulations for specific streets;

    (16)

    Ordinances which are policy-making in nature;

    (17)

    Ordinances relating to compensation and benefits of officials, officers and employees of the city;

    Provided, that the above enumeration of exceptions shall not be held or deemed to be exclusive, it being the purpose and intention to exempt from repeal any and all ordinances not of a general nature and general ordinances specifically excepted by this section.
