§ 13-64. Emergency ban on fireworks discharge.

  • The city manager, after consulting with the mayor and the director of fire services or their designees, may, in his sole discretion, ban the discharge of fireworks when, in his judgment, a special circumstance exists which indicates that the discharge of fireworks will create a hazard to public safety. Such special circumstances include, but are not limited to: a state-wide or local burn ban, drought, or other similar hazardous climatic or environmental conditions.

    In the event that the city manager bans the discharge of fireworks he shall have the authority to designate an alternate day or days for the discharge of fireworks when the special circumstance giving rise to the ban has abated. The discharge of fireworks on any alternate date established pursuant to this section shall only be permitted between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and midnight.
